A comeback Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after spring of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He rescued four early chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
